There exists today a movement of young people who take God seriously. They believe in the entirety of His Word, and trust His promises, including His promise to come again. They declare plainly that they seek a better country than this, a heavenly one. At the same time they endeavor to be of earthly good to their fellow men as they await the return of a crucified and risen Savior.
This movement began with Abel, the Father of the Faithful, whose legacy of excellence and commitment to worship the Creator in the way He asks to be worshiped runs down through the ages and is embraced by young people in today's movement. After him came faithful Enoch who, in a world filled with sin, suffering, and rebellion against God, lived a life bound up in heaven and in His Word. He anticipated not only the Second Coming of Jesus, but His Third Coming and the Executive Judgment. Daniel and his three friends followed in the footsteps of these founding fathers, with a radical commitment to health reform, acknowledging that their bodies were the temples of the Holy Spirit.
From the persecuted Christian church of the first century, through the Dark Ages, and the Reformation, young people devoted their lives to the protection and proclamation of the Word of God. As adherents to this movement walked in the light received, God permitted greater light to shine upon them from the scriptures. So much so that the Spirit of Prophecy was manifested once more in the 1800s, identifying this movement as God's remnant people.
Today, the movement continues and GYCGL is a part of it. Seventh-day Adventist young people throughout the Great Lakes region are joining the ranks of the faithful standard-bearers of generations past. They desire to maintain excellence in worship. They yearn to be translated at Christ's imminent return. They keep their bodies clean. They love the Word of God. They value the Spirit of Prophecy. And they are committed to preach the Three Angles' Message.
Catching their inspiration from GYC and reflecting the same spirit, GYC GL organizes conferences within the Great Lakes region, to galvanize the young people who are a part of this prophetic movement to hasten the soon coming of Jesus Christ.
